Brownfields Redevelopment Support
BAS’ remediation and redevelopment planning experience is extensive and ranges from clean-ups of single industrial operations, to complex projects involving construction of large mixed use developments on impacted properties. BAS has experience with federal, state, public, and private tools available to support Brownfield redevelopment efforts. This includes EPA’s Brownfields Program, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Brownfields Economic Development Initiative (BEDI), and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Programs

Anaheim Gateway – Anaheim, California
Providing environmental planning and engineering support to developers of a proposed commercial facility at a site featuring three old municipal landfills. Prepared a Remedial Action Plan and Closure Plan, designed landfill gas control system and final cover design, provided post-closure monitoring and maintenance planning, and provided landfill gas and groundwater monitoring services. |

Greater Downtown San Bernardino Revitalization Area GBID
BAS in conjunction with Project Navigator LP is preparing an Arc/GIS Server-compatible Brownfields Inventory Database (GBID) of a 7,608-acre redevelopment area in downtown San Bernardino. This includes establishment of site prioritization criteria to ensure properties meet the definition of Brownfield and are eligible to receive EPA funds for future environmental site assessment.

Long Beach Specific Plan Redevelopment Area – Lynnwood, California
BAS in conjunction with Project Navigator LP is assisting the City of Lynwood, California, in the identification of environmental issues within the City’s Long Beach Specific Plan Area that may impact the development plans for the area. This included development of a GIS compatible Brownfields Inventory Database, community outreach, and identification of candidate sites for further environmental investigation.

North Fork Mill – Madera County, California
Environmental consultant for clean-up of former lumber mill in the Sierra Nevada foothills. Prepared Remedial Investigation Workplan, implemented site investigation, prepared focused feasibility study and Health Risk Assessment, approved by both the CV-RWQCB and DTSC, and providing engineering support for site remediation.

Fresno Housing Authority – Fresno, California
Provided site investigation and remedial planning at a former LUST site and old municipal landfill being considered for redevelopment. Provided liaison with RWQCB, DTSC, EPA Region IX, and US Army Corps of Engineers. Investigation activities were funded through Brownfields Assessment.

Fairchild Controls Site – Manhattan Beach, California
Prepared Remedial Action Work Plan, directed the excavation and disposal soils contaminated with high levels of hexavalent chromium. Designed and operated full-scale vapor extraction remediation system. Following completion of the remediation program, a developer constructed a commercial retail center at the site.

Mixed Use Development – Downtown Los Angeles
Provided environmental support to developer evaluating the feasibility of purchasing a property in downtown Los Angeles for the construction of a mixed-use residential development. Performed environmental assessment of the site, conducted soil gas survey, and soil sampling. Outlined methane mitigation measures and limited soil remediation required to support development.
